DEL RIO, TX — Del Rio police are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Walmart, 2410 Dodson Avenue, following a welfare concern call. Authorities say the incident is being investigated as a medical event, and no criminal activity is suspected at this time.
According to the Del Rio Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:13 a.m. after a caller reported a man possibly asleep on the ground in the Walmart parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found the man unresponsive.

A civilian registered nurse who had stopped to assist began CPR prior to police arrival. Officers continued life-saving measures until Del Rio Fire and EMS arrived and assumed medical care.
Surveillance video from a nearby business showed the man collapsing at approximately 5:07 a.m. Co-workers later arrived at the scene and told officers the man routinely walked around the parking lot before reporting to work.
Police canvassed the area and found no signs of foul play. Justice of the Peace Lopez responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
