DEL RIO, TX — A water main break blasted water and debris about 70 feet into the air along HWY 90 in Del Rio on Thursday.
A City Water Distribution Supervisor who was first to respond to the scene says the problem was a pipe failure. He tells DRN he got a call at about 8AM Thursday morning about visible leakage coming from the ground. When his crew arrived and began digging, that pressure release blasted water into the air with force.
“There was a bunch of rocks falling from the air, too,” he said.
The City of Del Rio says while crews repair the 12” line, residents from 2700 HWY 90 E to Hamilton Road may experience low water pressure or no water. Repairs are expected to be complete by 4PM.
