SFDRCISD: Delayed Start Monday Due to Winter Weather

San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District officials announced a delayed start for students and staff on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to forecasted winter weather conditions expected to impact the area through the weekend.

National Weather Service updates show that an Extreme Cold Watch and Winter Storm Watch are in effect for the Del Rio area late this weekend through Monday morning, with below-freezing temperatures and a chance of wintry precipitation including rain transitioning to freezing rain as temperatures fall near or below freezing late Saturday into Sunday.

According to the district, all competition and extracurricular activities scheduled for Saturday have also been canceled as a precaution.

Student Start Time

1. Elementary classes will begin at 9:45 a.m.; bus routes begin at 9:00 a.m.
2. Secondary classes (6th – 12th grade) will begin at 10:30 a.m.; bus routes begin at 9:30 a.m.

Staff Reporting Times

1. Security Personnel: Report at 7:00 a.m.
2. Essential Staff (Cafeteria staff, Custodians and Maintenance): Report at 8:30 a.m.
3. All Campus Staff: Report 45 minutes prior to start of classes
4. Non-Campus Administrative and Support Staff: Report at 10:00 a.m.

The district said it will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed.

Residents in the Del Rio area are advised to stay weather aware this weekend, as temperatures are expected to tumble and conditions could make roads hazardous and increase the risk of ice-related travel issues.
