Man Arrested After Theft at Retail Store Leads to Taser Deployment

On April 24, 2026, at approximately 9:46 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to a reported theft at a retail store located in the 2400 block of Dodson Avenue. The caller provided a description of the suspect and the license plate of the vehicle involved.

On April 24, 2026, at approximately 9:46 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to a reported theft at a retail store located in the 2400 block of Dodson Avenue. The caller provided a description of the suspect and the license plate of the vehicle involved.

While one officer remained on scene reviewing surveillance footage, a second officer responded to an address in the Airport Boulevard area in an attempt to locate the suspect. Surveillance video confirmed the suspect exited the store with merchandise without making any attempt to pay.

Upon arrival in the Airport Avenue area, the responding officer observed the suspect exiting his vehicle and removing bags containing merchandise from the cargo area. The officer approached the suspect and issued verbal commands to stop. The suspect ignored the commands and attempted to walk inside his residence with the merchandise.

After repeated commands were disregarded, the officer attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect resisted, prompting the officer to deploy a department-issued Taser. The suspect was then subdued and taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation identified the suspect as Salvador Rodarte Navejar, 55 years of age, who was found to have taken merchandise valued at over $300.

Navejar was arrested and charged with Theft greater than $100 but less than $750, Evading Arrest/Detention, and Resisting Arrest/Detention. He was transported to the police station for processing and later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility for magistration.

All stolen property was recovered and returned to the business.
