At least one gunshot was fired after a human smuggler refused to stop at a Border Patrol checkpoint north of Del Rio on US-277 late Thursday evening, according to Ali Bradley, a Senior Immigration Correspondent at News Nation.

Bradley, who often reports in-the-field from Del Rio’s border wall, says her sources indicate that a vehicle blew through the checkpoint and was chased by agents. 6 suspects eventually fled their vehicle into the brush on foot. One shot was heard being fired, and a suspect was subsequently found with a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound. It is unclear if the subject is deceased at this time.
No agents were injured during the incident and no shots were fired by an agent. All suspects are now in custody.
These details are according to Ali Bradley’s preliminary report of the incident. No official word from federal or other law enforcement agencies have been released at time of publishing.
