Bruno Lozano, former mayor of Del Rio, vies for the Democratic nomination for Val Verde County Judge against incumbent Lewis Owens. Of the match-ups in this county election cycle, Lozano vs Owens are two of the most high-profile names in local politics facing off.
Ahead of the Democratic Primary election in March, Owens and Lozano appealed to voters on Wednesday at a public forum hosted by Southwest Texas College and the 830Times. The candidates touted their backgrounds as holders of chief executive office, their achievements and values.
In Texas, the highest-ranking official in county government is the County Judge.
