Man Arrested for Attempted Burglary of Habitation

On February 16, 2026, at approximately 3:43 p.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of Century Way in reference to a burglary of habitation in progress.

The Del Rio Emergency Communication Division advised that a male subject was actively attempting to force entry into a residence. The homeowner provided a detailed physical and clothing description of the suspect, who was reportedly trying to enter the home through the front door, rear door, and a window.

Officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect near the rear door of the residence. He was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as Vito Raul Gonzalez, 39 years of age. The homeowner confirmed he did not know Gonzalez and had not given him permission to enter or be on the property.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation (Criminal Attempt). He was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing and later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration.
