On April 13, 2026, at approximately 10:44 a.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 900 block of East 10th Street to execute a search warrant.

Patrol officers assisted the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) by clearing the residence to ensure there were no immediate threats. Once the interior was secured, patrol units established a perimeter while CID continued with the execution of the warrant. All officers on scene were in full police uniform and clearly identifiable.
At approximately 11:02 a.m., a gray Chevrolet Silverado arrived at the location. Uniformed officers attempted to prevent the vehicle from entering the driveway and issued multiple verbal commands for the driver to stop, while using hand gestures to signal the vehicle to halt.
The driver disregarded the officers’ commands, motioned for them to move aside, and accelerated the vehicle toward their direction. Officers were able to quickly move out of the way and avoid being struck.
The driver then stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as Veronica Guadiana Vowell, 58 years of age. She was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Vowell was transported to the police station for processing and later transferred to the GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration.
