A serious accident involving a bicyclist and a semi-truck occurred on Texas State Highway Spur 239 today 10/16/25. The Del Rio Police Department (DRPD) were the first to arrive at the scene. They were joined by Texas State Troopers and then the DRPD Crime Scene Unit. Despite immediate attention, the bicyclist, an unidentified individual, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Crime scene evidence suggests that the pedestrian was riding their bicycle up the sidewalk, moving towards the Del Rio-Ciudad Acuna Port of Entry. The accident occurred at approximately 4:10pm. Officers attended to the victim, but no transport to the hospital was taken. Upon the declaration of death, officers moved quickly to secure and preserve all evidence available. DRPD roped off an entire section of the highway with crime scene tape, diverting all traffic to the side access roads.

The crime scene included a private driveway leading into the business headquarters for RALI Forwarding and Logistics, also known as TRA Transport. Positioned at a strange angle, leading out from the driveway, a “TBM Carriers” 18-wheeler semitruck with a red cab was fully stopped in the middle of Spur 239. The angle of the truck suggests it was turning right out of the RALI driveway onto the highway at the time of the accident. At the center of the crime scene, the semitruck was encircled by law enforcement.

An active investigation into the fatal accident is underway by DRPD. Del Rio News Network expresses our condolences to the victim and their family, and our gratitude to the police officers on the scene for ensuring the body and crime scene were treated with respect. More information should be released upon the conclusion of DRPD’s initial investigation.
