Earlier this month, the Casa de la Cultura announced the latest artist to create a design in their installation box. The installation box has served as a creative canvas for multiple artists in the community, most recently it was home to a shiny, and bright installation from artist Mya Ayres known as My’s Sunshine Art.

The artist that will be creating its newest design is local artist, Krystal Acevedo also known as Kiki Ace for her artwork. This will be her second time creating a design for the Casa’s installation box, which sits on the corner right out front. “I had the privilege of doing the installation box once before so when I was approached for it again, I was more than glad to participate,” Acevedo shared.

Acevedo began painting and dabbling in small arts and crafts projects in 2010, going on to her first mural project which was an electrical box on South Main St. located across from J’s Barber Shop, followed by her first big mural, the “Buenas Con Del Rio” loteria inspired mural at the Joe Ramos Center facing the San Felipe Creek and park. She then went on to complete the “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” mural in the downtown Pocket Park located on South Main St. in 2023.

Kiki Ace Art can also be found at community events as a face painter, having participated in events like the Monarch Butterfly Festival, Christmas at the Museum and more. When asked about her unique art style and creations, Acevedo told us she “enjoys patterns, especially those from Mexican culture and textiles.”

“This design will incorporate another kind of pattern that people will be familiar with. If you’ve seen some of my other murals around town, you can expect bold colors for sure,” Acevedo stated about her upcoming installation box design.

Those interested in seeing more of her art, her current projects, or inquire about face painting can follow her on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok @kikiaceart

Stay tuned for the final reveal of her installation box creation!
