Another Successful Armored Catfish Tournament held at San Felipe Creek

A joint effort between the Casa de la Cultura, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and local Game Wardens, this year’s Armored Catfish/Mudsuckers Tournament was a great success! 

Held from March 14-16 at the San Felipe Creek with Registration and Weigh-In held at the Casa de la Cultura, the annual event continues to make a significant impact on the removal of the invasive species from the San Felipe Creek. Cash prizes were offered to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. 


“To date, we have successfully removed over 25,000 mudsuckers,with today’s total count at 779! As part of our ongoing conservation efforts, all fish removed are composted in our Monarch Way Station, contributing to a healthier environment for pollinators and native plants,” tournament organizers shared.
