Veteran and local creative, Dalinda “Dolly” Diaz has been helping foster creativity and expression through arts & crafts for participants of all ages, one art project at a time. With nearly seven years of experience creating and teaching at the Casa de la Cultura, Dolly has taught several courses including Kids Art Hour, Summer Art Camp, Sewing, Papercrafting, Bookmaking, Crocheting, Dollmaking, and Bullet Journaling. The quality that makes Dolly’s classes stand out from other art classes, according to her students, is her ability to instill confidence in even the most inexperienced art student, taking the time and care to help their vision come to fruition, and often incorporating art therapy into her classes, projects and exercises.

Adult Craft Hour offers people aged 18 and up the chance to create small arts and crafts projects in a fun, friendly, and relaxing environment. “We work with clay, make polymer earrings, macrame, cardmaking, and much more,” Diaz shares. “It’s a great way to take time out of your day for yourself.”

The class occurs every other Saturday from 3:30 - 4:30pm at the Casa de la Cultura. “Although this is a one hour class, we enjoy our time so much that we stay much later.” Adult Craft Hour is for adults aged 18 and over with limited spots available. Those interested in joining can sign up on the Casa de la Cultura website; a weekly registration link is shared on the Casa social media pages as well. https://lacasadelacultura.org/classes.

The class costs $5 per person but the fee can be waived if needed, however there are no refunds for no shows. All supplies are provided and no prior art experience is needed to join in on the fun.

Aside from Adult Craft Hour, those interested in more of Dolly’s classes can also sign up for Dolly’s Dollclub. “We meet on the first Saturday of every month to talk and make dolls and doll-related arts and crafts,” Diaz said. “The class is from 1-3pm, all ages and genders are welcome, and it’s free!” Though registration is required due to limited seats similar to Adult Craft Hour.
